Not to Be Touched

A delicate porcelain form rests on a sealed wooden book, bound with a red thread. Inside lie unseen photographs of the artist’s first work — never to be revealed. This piece reflects on memory, transformation, and the silent power of what is withheld. Inspired by the Japanese akai ito, the red thread evokes the fragile tension between vulnerability and strength, invitation and boundary.

Clay and porcelain are by far my favorite materials! Through their transformative nature and connection to the elements they are a tangible reminders of impermanence, resilience in difficult times, and the pursuit of inner balance. These age-old materials, steeped in tradition and symbolism, continue to inspire me to explore ways of connecting the art to the timeless principles of life itself.

The firing process of clay symbolizes the challenges we face in life, which, when approached with patience and resilience, can lead to personal growth and strength. I try to embrace challenges and use them as a catalyst for inner transformation, just as clay becomes porcelain through its exposure to fire.

I believe in the concept of impermanence. It teaches us that everything in life is in a constant flow, mirroring the ever-changing nature of clay. Clay, in its raw form, is malleable and receptive, easily shaped by the hands of a potter or sculptor. It embodies the idea that life is a continuous process of transformation, and like clay, we must adapt and flow with the changes that come our way.
My studio is a boundless realm of creative freedom, it is here that I find a source of positive energy that reverberates through the very essence of my work, infusing it with life, vitality, and authenticity. My “Personal Stories” are the result of the unbridled joy of creation, the raw, unfiltered expression of my self.
